Twenty-Three Things

Twenty-three!! This is absolutely crazy to me! I can't comprehend how twenty-three years of my life have come and gone. I have learned so much about myself and life in general. I know I don't know everything and there is still so much life left to live if the good Lord allows it, however, I thought it would be fun to share with all of you the things I have learned in my short life. Twenty-three things in twenty-three years!

1. The world doesn't revolve around me.

This was probably the hardest lesson I've had to learn so I put it at number one. I don't really feel the need to explain this one since it is pretty self-explanatory so I shall continue on with number two.

2. Be kind, always.

You have NO IDEA what others are going through, just like how they have no idea what you are going through. Always practice kindness in every situation, or strive to at least, I mean, we are human.

3. If you're at rock bottom, the only way you can go is up.

Again, self-explanatory.

4. Taking time to appreciate the smaller things in life will make you a happier person.

TRY THIS. Even if your world seems dark I promise you there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. If you think there is nothing... you woke up this morning didn't you? If you start focusing on things to be thankful for rather than your downfalls, I promise you'll be an overall happier person. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself.

5. Life can be pretty shitty, and that's okay.

I'll just leave it at that.

6. You have to roll with the punches.

Flexibility is important! Not everything ALWAYS goes to plan so just roll with it.

7. Holding yourself accountable is important.

8. God ALWAYS knows best.

My relationship with God has always been pretty steady throughout my life, however, the past two-three years have been very eyeopening for me. Things started to make sense. I now understand why certain things didn't work out and its because God had a much bigger and better plan for me. I thank him everyday for his hand in my life and the blessings he bestows upon me. I am so incredibly blessed.

9. Its okay to not be okay sometimes.

Shit happens. Life happens. Its okay to feel down. Its okay to not be okay.

10. How to say "no".

SUPER IMPORTANT. I have always been known to put others needs before my own and I found myself staying up super late to finish someone's ears for their Disney trip when I had work at 3:30AM the next day. I have since learned to not overload myself. I am not superwoman and again, thats okay. Sometimes I just can't do it all.

11. Mental health should ALWAYS come first.

Sometimes calling in sick from work for a mental health day is okay. Sometimes skipping school for a mental health day is okay!! Laying in bed watching Netflix all day because you NEED it is OKAY!!! SELF CARE PEOPLE!

12. How to hold myself to a high standard.

If it has my name on it, it better be high quality work. What you put your name on says a lot about who you are. Hold yourself to a high standard in every aspect of life! Kill IT!

13. Hard work is necessary.

Self-Explanatory.

14. DIVORCE IS OKAY.

This one I learned very quickly. I always thought I'd only be married once. BUT THINGS HAPPEN AND AGAIN THATS OKAY. I was embarrassed at first to announce my marriage didn't work out but now I just hope I can be an example of putting yourself first when you need to.

15. Being alone is okay. Doing things alone is okay.

16. Not everyone is going to cater to your emotions or your bad day.

Toughie, but true.

17. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Maybe not a third or fourth, but definitely a second.

18. Not everyone has the same opinions that you do, again, that's OKAY.

19. How to save my money and why it's so important.

20. How to be accepting of everyone.

21. If it doesn't concern me or my wellbeing, then it doesn't really matter.

I shouldn't be so wrapped up in what everyone else is doing. This is a good rule of thumb for me, if it doesn't DIRECTLY affect me or my wellbeing, then its probably not worth my time, being upset over or obsessing over. Moving on.

22. Put time and energy into those who love you and want the best for you.

Thank you friends and family <3 Love you guys.

23. Spending money on experiences/vacations brings so much more happiness than materialistic things.

This one is really important to me. Vacations have become my escape and necessary for my mental health, and yes, I'm talking about Disneyland. Ive found I am MUCH more content and happy when I spend money on experiences and memories! This means not buying all the new makeup thats out but honestly, I don't NEED every new palette by every YouTube influencer.

There you have it! Twenty-three things in twenty-three years. Cheers to another year of LIFE!!! <3

Love Always,

Tay
